Reality Check

Exercise and diet is a long, slow and sure way to be fit and healthy. Not just any diet, this diet should consist healthy food. I know this for a fact because I have a living example of what this vava-voom combination can do, right friend?

Other may resort to using the best weight loss pills to help make the process of slimming down faster. There are those who’d take other means like dancing, walking, running, or hula-hooping as a fitness routine rather than go to a gym and face machines. And toned down trainers.

I used to be enrolled in Zumba classes during summer. When classes started I found that I didn’t have the time to go back. Still working on my sked but I know in time I will be back. Group dancing is more fun than me dancing alone (like no one is watching) at home because in a group, you’d get embarrassed to sit and rest since everyone’s still dancing. At home when I try to dance, I’d end up sitting and taking a break on every other song in the play list. Duh.

I think I’d be devising a plan for this diet and exercise combination especially now that I will be turning a year older this week.

Reality check.

Black Olives

Vegetable salads are one of my favorite food. Below is a bowl of vegetable salad I prepared: cheese cubes, Romaine lettuce, black olives, cucumber, tomato and carrot slices.

It just occurred to me and I just checked, I already featured this photo in this blog post for my 2010 Project 365 (which is not updated by the way for almost a month!)

I Am Not Ready for Summer

I heard giggling girls at the mall today talking about crash diets that work.

Just exactly what I need to remind me that summer is HERE and I haven’t done a thing to at least minimize, ok then burn, these unsightly mid-body bulges. Ugh.

Eat plenty of raw leafy vegetables? Check.

Use of olive oil in cooking? Check.

More healthy eating? Check.

More fruits in the diet? Check.

Staying on schedule re morning rounds? Check. For not doing these religiously in reality but mental running definitely a yes. Booo!!!

No soda or sugared drinks? Check for yes 🙁

Definitely not ready for summer yet.

Oh well, I may not be able to wear clothes that are the current fad, my only wish is that I be healthy and free from any illnesses.

Bitter, hahaha.

Come to think of it, without no one to mind the house, we can’t even go on a vacation, not even spend oversight at my parents’ home. It has been years ago since we had a real vacation away from home.

Staycation is not really a case to be sad about, we love to stay at home and chill but being in an entirely different place and exploring new surroundings can do a lot for bored children.

Hearty Meals with Olive Oil

lasangpinoy

I have featured the dish (below) here as it was done in a cooking class I was invited to go to.

Last Wednesday night, we had it for dinner with a few minor changes according to what I have at home.

pasta and fish fillet

I plan to cook more using olive oil even if it is a bit of a strain in the pocket but if the benefits are good for the family’s health, why not?

I usually use soybean oil for cooking and I still do especially in frying (fish) which requires more oil.

Tired of Being Sick

The first week of January’s sprained ankle made me promise to myself that I would hit the pavement once I get better. But this is not how it is supposed to be since I got sick last Friday and as of today, I am supposed to be bedridden. I just will myself to be up and about since we don’t have house help.

There goes my plan to go back to whatever fitness routine I had and I must admit I am tempted to turn to quick weight loss diets to lose these unwanted pounds I gained during the Christmas season and when I was immobile.

I know I am not alone in this journey and that it is all up to me to take the first step back to my fitness routine. For now, I will rest my aching bones and itchy throat by taking a short nap.

Natural Remedy for Wrinkles

A friend asked me to help her look for natural skin care products to help her with her wrinkle problems. Uh-oh! I think I may have to read these for myself too, I tell her 😀

We searched the internet and read a lot of sites. One site, http://www.wrinkletreatment.org has a list of products one can avail of.

We looked at each other and say that we will get there but for now, we probably need to do some alteration in our diets to include food rich in vitamins A, B, C and E like meat, whole wheat, fruits and vegetables. Food rich in zinc like seafood, eggs and milk are also helpful as well as food rich in calcium.

So there, I have added these to my grocery list. I just hope lines will not be long when we go to the supermarket later as this is a payday for most of the breadwinners.
