Treasure Jar

The Fried Cream Dory Fillet is undeniably one of the favorites on the dining table.

So what do I do to prepare these easily? I have a concoction ready-made just for these fillet:

• all purpose flour
• cornstarch
• bread crumbs
• salt
• pepper
• dry basil

I have all these in a jar ready to use whenever the children ask for the Creamy Dory Fillet that is if we still have some left in the freezer. I just need to beat eggs to dip the fillet before I use this.

For that batch above,  used additional fresh basil leaves that i cut into very tiny pieces. The smell was wonderful 🙂

Try having this is a seafood restaurant and be prepared to pay for a big bill 😉

Tsokolate-e is one of the best beverages to have during the months when the cool Northern winds are working its chill to our bones.

These found its way on our breakfast menu one cool morning after Christmas.

The suman (PhP 12/5 pieces) and mangoes (Php60.00/kilo) were bought from the nearby wet market while the tablea was given by MIL and bought in Bohol. Get this in a resto and you will pay a lot more than the kilo of mango for a few slices of the suman and mango cubes 🙂

The theme for this week’s Lasang Pinoy Sundays is left-over. This is very timely because of the so many food prepared during the long Christmas vacation that we had (which I still have since I am on an extended vacation because the children have been sick).

One of the things I love to do with leftover meat would be omelet. Yes, I have had several entries posted but I am too lazy to look for these. Sausage omelet here and  Cheese and tuna omelet here.

This a photo of an omelet that has left-over pork barbecue meat cooked with tomatoes, garlic, onions and green and red bell pepper.

Perfect with garlic fried rice and a warm cup of coffee during chilly mornings.

Have this daily and be prepared to look for the best fat burners available in the market 😀

For the FMB Lunch Meme, we had lechon kawali as viand for our Monday packed lunch. The lechon meat was from the post-Media Noche lunch we had last Saturday.

I am not used to cooking lechon kawali so I just had to rely on my instinct and taste buds as to what I will put.

Here was how I did it:

1. In very little oil, I sauteed lots of garlic and onions.
2. Then I put lechon meat in the pan.
3. I then put on some (strawberry cider) vinegar, a little (muscovado) sugar, a little soy sauce and a little bit of (less sodium) oyster sauce.
4. A dash of ground pepper (cracked peppercorns are not used since there are children who will eat the dish), half a cup of commercially bottled lechon sauce and a bay leaf completed the recipe.

I cooked in slow heat for several minutes.

Media Noche came and went but I was not able to get a photo of the food we had. We had New Years’ Eve dinner with my in-laws and it was a hodge-podge affair with visitors so taking photos of food was forgotten.Photos of the children were a-plenty though.

Media Noche at home on the other hand was more like a delayed dessert galore of sweets which I was not able to take photos of, again.

Anyway, we had a post-Media Noche lunch yesterday after we had our breakfast picnic.

There was lechon cooked early in the morning and flown in a 10am flight from Bohol, brought by my brother-in-law.

My two younger children did not eat because they saw that it was a PIG on the dining table.
