Hearty Meals with Olive Oil

lasangpinoy

I have featured the dish (below) here as it was done in a cooking class I was invited to go to.

Last Wednesday night, we had it for dinner with a few minor changes according to what I have at home.

pasta and fish fillet

I plan to cook more using olive oil even if it is a bit of a strain in the pocket but if the benefits are good for the family’s health, why not?

I usually use soybean oil for cooking and I still do especially in frying (fish) which requires more oil.

Tired of Being Sick

The first week of January’s sprained ankle made me promise to myself that I would hit the pavement once I get better. But this is not how it is supposed to be since I got sick last Friday and as of today, I am supposed to be bedridden. I just will myself to be up and about since we don’t have house help.

There goes my plan to go back to whatever fitness routine I had and I must admit I am tempted to turn to quick weight loss diets to lose these unwanted pounds I gained during the Christmas season and when I was immobile.

I know I am not alone in this journey and that it is all up to me to take the first step back to my fitness routine. For now, I will rest my aching bones and itchy throat by taking a short nap.

Lines on the Skin

One time, during a discussion about the skin in our Science lessons, my son asked me why is it that people who are bigger (read: fat) tend to have “lines on the skin”. I asked if he meant lines on the face and he said “no” and that he meant that skin texture of people who are on the heavy side.

We went online to look for photos of people with “lines on the skin” after our lessons. He thought these were skin diseases since at that time we were learning about the skin in his Science subject.

Cellulite. This is a new word he learned that day. He further asked if there is a cellulite cure. I told him that there are but first and foremost, weight control should be a priority to avoid having these.

Natural Remedy for Wrinkles

A friend asked me to help her look for natural skin care products to help her with her wrinkle problems. Uh-oh! I think I may have to read these for myself too, I tell her 😀

We searched the internet and read a lot of sites. One site, http://www.wrinkletreatment.org has a list of products one can avail of.

We looked at each other and say that we will get there but for now, we probably need to do some alteration in our diets to include food rich in vitamins A, B, C and E like meat, whole wheat, fruits and vegetables. Food rich in zinc like seafood, eggs and milk are also helpful as well as food rich in calcium.

So there, I have added these to my grocery list. I just hope lines will not be long when we go to the supermarket later as this is a payday for most of the breadwinners.

Skin Care

Been reading about skin care because I am still getting pimples even if it is not that time of the month when I usually get these. I have read information from several sites including dermitage reviews.

I am thinking that maybe this is the right time for me to visit a dermatologist to have my skin checked.

If not, I may have to get natural products that will help me with skin care:

  • eggs
  • honey
  • lemon
  • oatmeal
  • fruits like avocado, cucumber, banana

These should be on my list of things to get when I go back to the supermarket later.
