I was a bit challenged with this one and since I can not find any tricolore food photo in my files that I have cooked/made, I decided to put this hastily-taken photo of a glass of Sago’t Gulaman. Gutom na kasi at that time kaya hastily taken, more like an after-thought, π
Sago’t gulaman. One of the Pinoy thirst-quenchers that seems to have taken a back seat because of the influx of sugar-laden soda drinks, tea-based drinks and other drinks called shakes with chemically enhanced flavors. This is perfect for summer, isn’t it? If not, a halo-halo will do just fine π
Gotta.have.one.like.this.today ->note to self.
Yeah and not think that I need some weight loss pills to get ready for the beach this summer π

EATS a WRAP!
I was feeling a little worried that I would have to go order myself that wrap in one of the fast food nearby.Β I was also tempted to buy a shawarma, warm, cheesy and spicy. But wait, these are not Filipino foods so I thought long and hard because I knew I have something in my files and so I have!
Very simple, very Pinoy and very tasty: our home made Saba con cheese turon π
How to make these? Simple and here is how:
First of course, get some ripe bananas using the saba variety:
A little overripe is ok. Cut these bananas into four pieces.
Cut the cheese like little cheese sticks, or the size of French fries.
Put the sliced banana and cheese together on a wrap (lumpia wrapper, store bought) and sprinkle with a little sugar. We use muscovado sugar variety at home.
Fry these banana and cheese turon in a hot skillet and you will have:

As I looked at the food photos in my files, I decided to choose layered ice cream cake photos from Five Cows Restaurant, venue of the FilipinoMomBlog.com‘s first meet-up/dinner.
I changed my mind though because ice cream cake, though very much appreciated, is not really a Filipino food.
So the quest began until I remembered that I have photos of buko pie from Collette’s which we bought when we went swimming a few weeks ago.
Now I present a slice of buko pie, my entry for Lasang Pinoy Sunday’s Layer Eat Up:
There, layers of crust, custard and young coconut slices.

Eye-candy is the theme for Lasang Pinoy Sundays which became Lasang Pinoy Tuesday for me due to phone line problems. Hello PLDT, it has been 5 days already!
Anyway, during the past few weeks of the Christmas season, the influx of eye-candy food is varied and oh-so-tempting that anyone with sweet tooth would not resist getting a bite, or two, or maybe even more than that.
A dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts, colourful, sweet, flavourful and yes, tempting. It may not be a Filipino sweet treat but it captured the Filipino palate
Who would care for a piece of two of that colorful candy sprinkled one or the cookies and cream? What about the snowman over here?
I do!
And now I need to go get some weight loss supplements π

The Fried Cream Dory Fillet is undeniably one of the favorites on the dining table.
So what do I do to prepare these easily? I have a concoction ready-made just for these fillet:
- all purpose flour
- cornstarch
- bread crumbs
- salt
- pepper
- dry basil
I have all these in a jar ready to use whenever the children ask for the Creamy Dory Fillet that is if we still have some left in the freezer. I just need to beat eggs to dip the fillet before I use this.
For that batch above,Β used additional fresh basil leaves that i cut into very tiny pieces. The smell was wonderful π
Try having this is a seafood restaurant and be prepared to pay for a big bill π

Tsokolate-e is one of the best beverages to have during the months when the cool Northern winds are working its chill to our bones.
These found its way on our breakfast menu one cool morning after Christmas.
Have you tried this with suman and ripe mangoes?
If you haven’t, well, do try it as soon as possible π
If you have, well, what do you think?
The suman (PhP 12/5 pieces) and mangoes (Php60.00/kilo) were bought from the nearby wet market while the tablea was given by MIL and bought in Bohol. Get this in a resto and you will pay a lot more than the kilo of mango for a few slices of the suman and mango cubes π
