Christmas 2009 is Almost Here

With Christmas 2009 just a few weeks away, it is no wonder malls are having possible gifts on display. Bazaars are happening left and right.

I do not want to dampen the joyous Christmas spirit but here in our country, at least the way I see it, Christmas will have a different meaning after all the things that happened to a lot of people and families.

Of course, husbands/male partners will still think of going to aisles that say “gifts for her” as would wives/female partners do. That is natural.

But for me who will be starting my Frugal Christmas year 2 for Christmas 2009, I hope to instill Christmas with less emphasis on the material things with my children.

Artificial Christmas Tree

I would love to have a real Christmas tree but living in warm tropical-like country, that is not a possibility (unless I order real trees from overseas and pay a fortune which I would never do).

So here is a part of our artificial Christmas tree with home-made ribbon decors and paper stuff that the children made:

A few more days to go and we usher in the -ber months.

Yes, Christmas is near.

25 Photos

These photos were for a photo scavenger hunt (different from the Saturday Photo Hunter meme that I participate) that I plan to join but was not able to.

Some photos included were taken by my 13yo daughter.

2. A Macro Shot

Sunflowers are very bright and lovely flowers

3. Laughter

Going down a slide is pure happiness

4. Relaxation

A respite and shade from the noon heat

5. A Celebration

Christmas, ‘tis the season of joy and love.

6. A Sunset

7. Sun/Lens Flare

8.  A Bridge

Would you dare cross that hanging bridge? No, there are no crocodiles lying in wait just in case you fall down but then, that would double the fun, wouldn’t it? (Photo taken by my 13yo daughter)

9.  A Shadow

Wouldn’t you know, it is almost high noon but because of the shadows cast by the trees, this road is quite shady and still cool for a walk.

10.  A Garden

Missing Snowman Hat

Every Saturday, participants post photos based on a theme. The theme for this Saturday is HAT(S).

I went differently though, I went HAT LESS in this entry whereas I have different hats in my other PH post 🙂

Our Krispy Kreme Snowman has no hat!

Should he had any or this is just ok?

Red Wooden Christmas Tree

Last week of the Filipino Mom Blog‘s Fab Holiday Finds and the theme is RED and/or GREEN.

One of the gifts I got from my students was this red wooden Christmas tree which I already featured as a part of our Advent Wreath.

This mini tree has “gold” trimmings and red accents on proper places that lights are reflected on the glitters.

In the background is the big Advent Wreath which I got from NBS for less than PhP100.00 because the tag says “less 20% off”.

I am still updating my other blog for another red and green entry.

Here is my post about the Handmade Christmas tree ornaments with red and green colors.

Potato Salad

Lasang Pinoy Sundays for this week is all about Noche Buena.

Noche Buena is that midnight feast meal which families share to celebrate Christmas. These can be a table full of elaborately-prepared dishes or just simple meals that best reflect what each and every member of the family wants to share or to have.

We have had a simple Noche Buena. Pasta carbonara, baked ham, macaroni salad for the kids and my hubby and potato salad for me. We were going to have lunch in my hubby’s aunt the next day so I dd not cook a lot.

What I did (the salad) was just for me to have during the Noche Buena and breakfast. Or so I thought.

Who would have thought that they (hubby and the kids) wanted the potato salad better than the macaroni salad?
