Yard Sale Finds
Whenever my mother-in-law take vacations in the US, she brings home boxes upon boxes of thingamajigs that she buys during yard sale.
Her boxes has, among other things, a small chain saw (I wonder how this passed customs, lol!), candelabras, books, bags, toys for the grandchildren, area rugs, crystal bottles, condiments containers, silverware baskets, and other knick-knacks that catches her fancy.
She has sent several boxes while she was there. She brought one or two when she came home. And still, the boxes keep coming.
Most of the things in it are for her home down south which I am featuring below:

“Pardon the clutter”??? You ain’t seen clutter until you have seen our house (and NO I will not be posting a photo of it… It’s bad enough living in it)!
My Mom has all sorts of junk she has collected over the years and I have slowly been getting rid of stuff she doesn’t even miss… Dollar store onion soup bowls, vases the size of Volkswagons which hold one long-stemmed rose, pseudo “antique” silver salt and pepper shaker sets which are actually pickled tin and if you look carefully have “Made in China” stamps on them (gifts from my sister who apparently paid antique store prices for them. She also bought herself a “Stradivarius” for $200 thinking it was real because it had a paper label on this inside saying so.), and oh-so-much-more. And still we have too much stuff.
Sadly, a lot of the really good things we owned over the years got broken or disappeared. She used to open her home to friends of my brother’s or friends of my niece’s who all lived with her for a time. A Faberge pin disappeared many years ago, along with a gigantic ruby and diamond ring that belonged to my gg-grandmother. Probably sold to buy cigarettes and beer. So many lovely things gone.
Uh-oh! A Faberge pin and that ring do not just have monetary values but sentimental ones too. Too bad. And too sad.
I plan to rid some clutter in our home too, mostly toys and clothes that haven’t been used. And no value knick-knacks. Ugh.
