WWF-Philippines Adopt-a-Panda Campaign

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines National Youth Ambassador Janine Gutierrez is a passionate advocate of proper waste management and garbage disposal. She graced the on-ground fundraiser for a day for WWF-Philippines’ “Fundraising Hour” activity at the Lucky Chinatown Mall in Manila.

The fundraising is one event for this WWF-Philippines ambassador to spread awareness on pressing environmental issues and introduce the Individual Donor Program or IDP. The IDP encourages everyone to directly contribute in the conservation efforts of WWF-Philippines all over the country. Donors can sign up at booths in selected venues or through online.

Janine, as one of the newest celebrity ambassadors of WWF-Philippines has supported activities like Earth Hour, Sustainable Food, Sustainable Future Fundraising Dinner, Partners’ Night 2017 and a site visit to Dobson, Sorsogon.

Janine said that “I am so glad that I am doing a lot more now to protect our environment. Our activities at WWF-Philippines encourages everyone, especially the youth, to take an active role in protecting and preserving our planet because together we can make everything possible.”

Luckily Chinatown is a perfect venue for the fundraising event because it has partnered up with WWF-Philippines for its Panda-themed holidays. “Adopt-a-Panda” campaign allows shoppers to take home a panda stuffed toy, a WWF pin, and an official adoption certificate for Php500.00. All proceeds will go to WWF-Philippines’ conservation programs. The “Adopt-a-Panda” campaign runs till December 31, 2017.

Contributions to the WWF-Philippines will help the campaigns and projects in the conservation of the natural habitats, resources and ecosystems in the country as it carries out its mission to build a future where Filipinos live in harmony with nature.

Quorn Non-Meat Grounds Recipe

We love Quorn non-meat grounds. It is like meat, only it isn’t. The texture is like meat and if cooked correctly, it doesn’t feel and taste like a non-meat ingredient. The kids and the hubby do not complain but instead say that it feels like they are eating meat, that is not meat.

Quorn is made with Mycoprotein, a fermented, natural, nutritious fungus taken from the soil. Mycoprotein is high in protein, high in fiber, low in saturated fat, and has no cholesterol. It’s texture is just like meat without the oil “sebo” effect when the cooked food turns cold.

Here are a few recipes I have made with the Quorn non-meat grounds:

Slowcooked Lasagna:

Sautéed with onions, garlic, a little vegetable oil and cooked with carrots and potatoes:

Sautéed with onion, garlic and cooked with tomato sauce and carrots:

Sautéed with onions and garlic, cooked with fresh brown mushroom and tomato sauce. Add cooked penne pasta for a pasta meal.

Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken

When Bonchon Philippines opened shops in the Philippines, we were not too ready for the food it offered. The chicken pieces were “too small” for the kids who are used to big sized fried chicken. Since then we have been to the stores only a handful of times. Mostly we go to the Trinoma branch because that is where we always go for supermarket days and daily parking. We love their Bibimbowl though.

One time that my youngest child and I were out, she said she wants to go to Bonchon for lunch and so we went there. She ordered the chicken wings and said we’d give it another try.

We loved the fried chicken wings. It was flavorful. Surpringly, despite the size, it was quite filling.

I still have to replicate this to be featured in my food blog though I am not sure if I will do it because we rarely have fried chicken at home.

Anyway…

Have you tried these Korean style fried chicken from Bonchon? What do you think?
