Roses from Island Rose

I had the chance to visit Island Rose rose farm a few days ago with other bloggers and print media people. Island Rose is a premier rose grower in the Philippines.

Island Rose

Island Rose has state of the art greenhouse facilities that house their fresh and beautiful roses that can be ordered through an efficient and easy e-commerce means though islandrose.net.

The greenhouses are computer controlled where there are mist fans providing mist, roofs that automatically close if there are changes in the weather and weather station that provides data necessary to grow these roses. The ideal temperature would be around 26 degrees and not more than 30 degrees inside the greenhouses.

Every year, Island Rose produces over two million roses.  It ships around five thousand roses in the country daily from their rose farm to your home.

Preparing Island Rose roses

There are twelve varieties of roses available. The three types of red roses are the Grand Rose (thornless, thick-stemmed and has dark red buds),  Red Giant (long straight-stemmed) and Red France (vibrant red petals). Osiana roses are peach-colored. Noseblesse roses have salmon pink petals. Vivaldi roses have very light pink petals. Texas roses have golden yellow buds. Christine roses have light yellow petals. Salsa roses are deep orange in color. Lambada roses have bright orange tones. Tineke roses are white and have thick-stems. Gloria roses have the purest white color.

You can check the website for the bouquet arrangement you want and include other items with the bouquet you wish to send your loved ones.

Pink Rose

The roses are licensed plants and each plant can produce maximum flowers within seven years. The roses are harvested three times a day at morning, noon and afternoon. No, these can’t be planted in your outdoor garden as these would not survive.

Thanks to the Andaya brothers Dustin and Arnold for the tour of Island Rose flower farm 🙂

It’s Been Awhile

It has been awhile, no, it has been a long time since we last went to our family biking/walking/running bonding time.

Sunday

The thule rack is dusty and so are the bikes. The kids still can’t ride without training wheels and that is something not to be proud of because they are not that young anymore.

I always tell the family, next Sunday we will go do these things again but sleep, that elusive sleep wins over more than anything including breakfast and the need to be fit.

I always tell myself, tomorrow, I will start my early morning walking routine but then either the online lure is more powerful or the bed is pulling me back to its soft comfort.

On Sunday, we will do something different and I am hoping even with the lack of preparation, my legs are up to the task even if I still feel pain from walking and hiking for two days with my school children.

Beach Bound, Finalleh!

I need to lose weight. ASAP. 😀

We are beach-bound in two weeks’ time, a post-summer short vacation, never mind if we are having the rainy season these days. Still I would say: “Woot!!!”

I know, maybe even if I run around the neighborhood (horrors!) several times everyday plus the lot of the best weight loss pills can’t take off the pounds that fast. Yep, I’ve gotten that big already.

So now, I will wait for an email that will tell me what to do even if the clock goes tick-tocking and nears the time I head to the beach.

Back From a Dinner Invite

We just got back from that dinner invite by hubby’s aunt and boy! It was a fun, fun dinner in terms of the food and lively company. And yes, we will definitely be back a few days from now because they will be celebrating their Patron Saint’s Feast day and I am sure, the fiesta food would be oh so yummy!

Hello, apidexin? Hrhrhr…

I may have to walk off these food that I indulged in, crunchy deep-fried wrapped shrimps, grilled tuna (guilt-free food!) salad and glasses of my favorite ice-cold cola.

I am just letting the food settle down and while I am at it, hubby is calling me to share a Loumar’s Buko Pie Crumble or Buko Tart. That would be in my next post and I hope there will still be left for photo opp. 😀
