It’s Been Awhile

It has been awhile, no, it has been a long time since we last went to our family biking/walking/running bonding time.

Sunday

The thule rack is dusty and so are the bikes. The kids still can’t ride without training wheels and that is something not to be proud of because they are not that young anymore.

I always tell the family, next Sunday we will go do these things again but sleep, that elusive sleep wins over more than anything including breakfast and the need to be fit.

I always tell myself, tomorrow, I will start my early morning walking routine but then either the online lure is more powerful or the bed is pulling me back to its soft comfort.

On Sunday, we will do something different and I am hoping even with the lack of preparation, my legs are up to the task even if I still feel pain from walking and hiking for two days with my school children.

Wide Open Spaces

Wide open spaces are scarce in a megapolitan like ours called Megapolitan (or Mega) Manila where traffic is ordinary especially during weekdays which is what my other entry is all about.

I am thankful then that we are just a mere 10-15 minutes away from the wide open spaces of a campus where I  spent some years for my graduate studies and where people including us, can go to during weekends for physical exercises like biking, walking, running, jogging and other sport activities. We also go there at times for a picnic lunch.

We love these kinds of weekend activities where we can have fun in wide open spaces 🙂

What about you?

Biking

My hubby and the children ride bikes.

I don’t. No, let me rephrase that, I can’t.

The two younger children got a new bike for Christmas. They got one only because we still have a slightly bigger and almost new bike which our oldest daughter rarely use.

Giving sports gifts during Christmas is not new. I am sure there are a lot of children who got new bikes, skateboards, roller blades, different kinds of balls for different kinds of sports that would enable the receivers to further enhance whatever sport they like to concentrate.

For my children, they like biking because its fun. They get to ride her bikes during weekends with a lot of other bikers too.
