Sunflower Days

photohunter

My other entry, almost sunset photo is here.

Lovely sunflower eh? I wish to see lots and lots of these. Why?

With so much destruction and devastation brought about by the two typhoons that ravaged the country recently, it is easy to just pretend that everything was just a bad dream but its not.

I long for sun-kissed days, even parched lips and prickly heat, days at the beach, sunflowers and colorful sunsets.

A little rain every now and then to quench the thirst of the earth and to bring a refreshing feeling would also be perfect.

I can dream, can I?

“Lord, we don’t need this one now to add more suffering and to sow more panic and fear to what we have been through.”

Parma is Here

The country experienced one of the worst floods. It was so sudden that almost everyone was caught unaware.

We were so close to being affected by flood waters and we are thankful that prayers worked wonders. Now we pray even harder not only for our family but for others as well.

Our neighbors were not spared from the flood waters. As of today we can still see a lot of debris scattered on the streets because garbage trucks haven’t been  where we are the past week. Mattresses, wooden cabinets, books, electrical appliances like television, microwave ovens and even tv stands can be seen on the road.

Now as our country is being battered by yet another (category 5) supertyphoon, we can’t say we are ready for another round of rains.

God bless this country.

Disease Control in Evacuation Centers

So many health issues are now being dealt with in the different evacuation centers where the displaced people are staying after typhoon Ondoy (international code name Ketsana) wrecked havoc to this poor country of ours. Yes, disease control should be on top of the list of concerns.

I heard over the radio for the past two days Ted Failon‘s call for donations for portalets and it was a good thing that a lot donated for this particular concern.

Doctors and nurses as well as other health workers are being deployed where they are immediately needed .

I just hope that medical research and development like those concerned with dengue, h1N1, and other concerns (like cancer research will not take a back seat.

As we brace ourselves with Parma, a (category 5) typhoon, we not only arm  ourselves with provisions but with prayers too.
