Typhoon Pepeng/Parma Caused Massive Flooding

We have been too focused on the ill-effects and devastation of Typhoon Ondoy/Ketsana effects that the devastation of Pepeng/Parma which pounded Northern Luzon for more than a week was not given due noticed until the devastation was widespread.

Massive flooding in so many places which not just affected crops but homes and businesses as well. There have also been a lot of casualties caused by landslides.

Sigh.

It would have been great if the government can provide mobile homes to our affected countrymen as temporary shelters but as it is, rescue boats, rubber boats are not even available to be used.

I sincerely hope rescue efforts will continue so help those who were affected.

I sincerely hope and pray that relief goods would reach the right people too.

Supertyphoon Parma aka Pepeng: Signal No 4?

With hundreds of lives lost during the typhoon Ondoy or typhoon Ketsana, perhaps some people are now thinking if they were able to get life insurance for their lost loved ones, everything would have been easier to deal with.

Not that I am saying what happened was easy but it could have made dealing with issues easier.

Anyway, if you are interested to find term life insurance go here.

And now  we brace ourselves for another round of last week’s rains. Sigh.

God be with us.

Disease Control in Evacuation Centers

So many health issues are now being dealt with in the different evacuation centers where the displaced people are staying after typhoon Ondoy (international code name Ketsana) wrecked havoc to this poor country of ours. Yes, disease control should be on top of the list of concerns.

I heard over the radio for the past two days Ted Failon‘s call for donations for portalets and it was a good thing that a lot donated for this particular concern.

Doctors and nurses as well as other health workers are being deployed where they are immediately needed .

I just hope that medical research and development like those concerned with dengue, h1N1, and other concerns (like cancer research will not take a back seat.

As we brace ourselves with Parma, a (category 5) typhoon, we not only arm  ourselves with provisions but with prayers too.
