Stripes or Creases?

For this week’s STRIPES theme in Photo Hunt, I have this entry below and another entry about a flower with stripes.

I saw a photo in my archive that looks odd to me. This photo of the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta was taken last year:

I see lots of stripes though there are not many stripes as stripey as they come. Are the ones I am seeing stripes or creases? πŸ˜€ What do you think?

Do you see the “stripes” too?

Wooden Pecking Hens

HANDS is the theme for this week’s Photo Hunt and here I wrote here that we have a hand in educating our two younger children.

I thought about featuring this photo of my youngest daughter’s hand holding a wooden toy with five pecking hens which looks like a handmade toy.

I thought the concept of this toy is originally Philippine-related but when I Googled the term, I found out the toy is of Scandinavian origin!

Surprise, surprise!

Below is the toy in a close-up photo:

Yellow Leaf

Yellow is a wonderful color. It is bright, warm and lively. Yellow is the theme for this week’s Photo Hunt.

Summer is definitely here on this side of the planet. Everyone is saying “it IS hot” and yes, it is very hot and humid.

I definitely miss the “cold” spell we experienced for a few weeks during December till February. Sure a lot of people got sick because of that and taking a bath in the morning (Filipinos take baths everyday, some even twice or thrice a day when the weather is extremely hot) is a real challenge especially to those without a water heater like us.

Yellow leaf, a sign that the weather will turn cold because some trees shed their leaves. Our own version of “autumn”.

I definitely miss the cool weather. I don’t mind if the days look sad because of overcast skies.

I am sure a lot of you out there are welcoming spring with open arms (except maybe those with allergies) so you can take a lot of flower photos πŸ™‚ Have fun!

Thank You, Papa and Mama

The theme for this Saturday is THANKFUL

I came across this quotation about being thankful a few days ago when I was thinking about the post I will make for the theme: “It isn’t what you have in your pocket that makes you thankful, but what you have in your heart”

And I say “yes, I agree”

I am thankful about so many things which I wrote about in this other PH entry

I am thankful for my parents who may not have much in their pockets (like me, lol!) but have big hearts with overflowing love πŸ™‚

We do not have a mansion with spacious rooms and high-ceilings but we felt like royalty because in the eyes of my parents, my brother and I are both the little prince and little princess πŸ™‚

The home which is the witness of many wonderful moments is in bad shape and needs major repairs but we are hopeful that everything will fall into place πŸ™‚

Thank you God for giving me a wonderful family πŸ™‚

Scale Model of USS Nimitz CVN-68

The theme for this Saturday is NAUTICAL.

We have several photos taken from passenger ships but I am too lazy to look for them in the files. Nautical commuting is a big thing in this island of 7,107 islands called the Philippines. Yes, we are surrounded by water.

Here is my other entry.

I chose the photo below as my entry because model scales are wonderful and very detailed. So now I present a scale model of the USS Nmitz CVN-68.

Scale model of USS Nimitz CVN-68

This photo was taken late last year from an exhibit about scale models ranging from toy soldiers to cars and locomotives, as well as war planes and war ships. It was a bit difficult to take photos through a glass but I managed a bit. That is until the kids started to get bored πŸ˜€

Chichi, our APBT

Every Saturday participants post photos based on a theme. The theme for this Saturday is FURRY.

Okra buds, my other entry is here.

I am featuring our (almost new) dog, Chichi, an American Pit Bull Terrier who came to our home three months ago. He is our only APBT now because Sparky (who is probably in heaven) died last month.

She is not really furry compared to toy dogs and other herding dogs because she is a short-haired breed. We prefer to have this kind than the long-haired ones that need grooming (these can be expensive) and shed unwanted hairs that can cause asthma.

Contrary to what others believe, pit bulls are friendly (except when they are together with other dogs and/or smaller animals and other APBT) and very playful.
