Lasang Pinoy Sundays for this week is all about Noche Buena.
Noche Buena is that midnight feast meal which families share to celebrate Christmas. These can be a table full of elaborately-prepared dishes or just simple meals that best reflect what each and every member of the family wants to share or to have.
We have had a simple Noche Buena. Pasta carbonara, baked ham, macaroni salad for the kids and my hubby and potato salad for me. We were going to have lunch in my hubby’s aunt the next day so I dd not cook a lot.
What I did (the salad) was just for me to have during the Noche Buena and breakfast. Or so I thought.
Who would have thought that they (hubby and the kids) wanted the potato salad better than the macaroni salad?

This is one of the absolute favorite snacks my children love, Kraft Jet Puffed Mini Marshmallows.
At times they use these jet puffed mini-marshmallows in their hot chocolate drinks, which are just perfect especially when the mornings are chilly.
More often they just get a few scoops and put these in a small bowl for their snacks.
Now that we are exploring our options and starting to bake our own goodies, I think, these Kraft jet puffed mini-marshmallows are great as toppings to brownies. There are so many possibilities to have these in the baked goodies.
One time we even topped our pancakes with these yummy mini marshmallows.

I thought I didn’t have kitchen gadgets to write about which is this week’s Lasang Pinoy Sundays theme. Well, I do! *insert Plurk banana dance here ๐
I would have taken a photo of my (almost) newly bought Rubbermaid can opener as suggested my Munchkin Mommy but then I thought about my Tupperware Quick Chef Food Processor which is rarely used. Mine though is bigger and colored white, because its older than the one in the link.
In fact I think I have had this for several years but have used it less than ten times only.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I used this de-mano gadget to chop tomatoes, garlic and fresh basil together for a pasta dish.
The tomatoes, garlic and fresh basil (when my basil plant was still “alive”) sitting in the Tuppeware Quick Chef Food Processor.
This was the dish when it was finally cooked:

Having said that I am going to spend a frugal Christmas, I have one after the other, slowly getting the things I need to see my plan of action into a reality
I got several things to use to be able to afford baking goodies as gifts
Sure, I shelled out some but I know these are for long-term use so I am still able to save, I think
Anyway, I got a silver 9 x 9 baking pan which was not bought on purpose but rather as an alternative The nonstick baking pan I was setting my sights on was not in stock so I settled for the silver baking pan which incidentally, is the FilipinoMomBlog’s Fab Holiday Finds week 3 theme
Here is a photo with the butterscotch bars that I and the kids baked last week, cooling in the silver baking pan ๐

Lasang Pinoy Sundays for this week is about Christmas Goodies.
I would have featured a few of the Christmas donuts that we had for the past two weekends but these were too “westernized” for me.
I have decided then to feature the butterscotch bars that the kids and I baked last week. This was in preparation for my Frugal Christmas theme. Yeah, even if I still have to practice baking which means I will shell out more than I have to, sige na, pangatawanan ko na ๐
Ok, I cheated.
I used a ready mix butterscotch/brownie mix (whatever) for this. I don’t know, it tasted like how a butterscotch bar should taste like. It was a bit, a teeny wee bit crunchy on top and soft and moist in the inside.
All sliced pieces baked from the 9 x 9 baking pan were gone before 24 hours were up (should I mention that we still had a pack of food for the gods given to us during that time). Maybe these were good to be given as goodies after all ๐

We love chocolates, these are one of our favorite kinds of dessert. These are bribes rewards for the children if they are able to eat the food on their plates. One of the more popular brand names in our household is the Reese’s milk chocolate peanut butter cups.
For this week’s FAVORITE Photo Hunt’s theme, I give you:
Reese’s milk chocolate peanut butter cups.
Feel free to get one ๐
