Typhoon Pepeng/Parma Caused Massive Flooding

We have been too focused on the ill-effects and devastation of Typhoon Ondoy/Ketsana effects that the devastation of Pepeng/Parma which pounded Northern Luzon for more than a week was not given due noticed until the devastation was widespread.

Massive flooding in so many places which not just affected crops but homes and businesses as well. There have also been a lot of casualties caused by landslides.

Sigh.

It would have been great if the government can provide mobile homes to our affected countrymen as temporary shelters but as it is, rescue boats, rubber boats are not even available to be used.

I sincerely hope rescue efforts will continue so help those who were affected.

I sincerely hope and pray that relief goods would reach the right people too.

Jesus Calms the Storm

photohunter

We need assurance that our country will be safe as we brace ourselves with Supertyphoon Parma which is considered a category 5.

We have been through a lot last weekend and the days after the typhoon and now this new threat.

I tried to pacify my nervous feelings by reading on the Word and I turned the Bible to the time when Jesus calmed the storm:

Jesus Calms the Storm

Yes, we pray that we will be delivered from this ordeal. God help this country.

UPDATE 8:20am: Parma has changed course and is not directly affecting MegaManila although the northern pat of the country is experiencing rains.

Nanny Alert

One of the risks working parents have to take is to leave their child(ren) behind in the care of their nannies. Most of the time, these nannies are strangers. When they get a little lucky, these nannies are people known to them. There are those who have their parents look after their children.

Is it any wonder then that in situations like these, household put up video surveillance equipment in their homes?

If my situation is like that I have mentioned above, i would definitely install these things. And why not? There have been a lot of abuses recorded on these equipments by yes, the nannies towards the children they were supposed to take care of.

Some were so difficult to watch. One time I even had my younger children watch a video that managed to record an abuse by a nanny who brutally abused her ward, a girl that looked like 3-4 years old.

My then 7yo son told me why I am making them watch it, the act being done was bad.

I told them so they know that there are people who will do these things to them and they should know what to do. He answered back that I am always there and that no one will do that to them.  Awww…

Sigh. Be careful in choosing your child’s nanny.

Look Down Sometimes

“God finds a low branch for the bird that cannot fly.” Turkish proverb

Sometimes we do not have to look far and wide to see beauty. Beauty is all around us if we only knew how to look for it.

Here is another entry from me.
