7-Eleven Honors Our New President with a Commemorative Cup

Many of us were part of a significant event in Philippine history last May as we participated in the country’s first automated elections. To quote a classic Latin phrase, “we came, we saw, we conquered” indeed, as this year’s elections proved to be the fastest, the most organized, and the most peaceful electoral process that the Philippines has experienced to date.

But, as most of us already know, another historic event took place before the elections, when 7-Eleven Philippines launched 7-Elections – an informal polling campaign using 7-Eleven GULP ® cups. Six specially designed GULP ® Cups were offered in 7-Eleven stores, and customers were urged to “cast their votes” as they chose to drink their beverages from GULP ® Cups featuring their preferred candidates. There was even a specially designed cup for those who were undecided or chose to abstain from voting.  Thousands of customers trooped to over 450 7-Eleven stores to cast their own cup, or rather, their vote using these GULP ® cups.

And just because the elections are over doesn’t mean that you’ve seen the last of these creatively designed cups. Whether it was your presidential bet who won or not, you can still join in the celebration of democracy and this year’s peaceful elections, because all six 7-Elections GULP ® Cups are back due to popular demand!

For only P20, you can collect all six 7-Election cups as souvenirs to remind you how democracy and peace prevailed during the 2010 elections.

But that’s not all: fresh from the success of 7-Elections, the country’s favorite convenience store chain is ready to give the Filipino people what they’ve asked for. Starting June 24, all 7-Eleven stores, will offer a special Commemorative GULP ® Cup in honor of our new president-elect, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino, III, and our recently concluded elections.

Our country has proven to the world that democracy does reign in the Philippines and that there is hope for a better and brighter future ahead for us. Take this important piece of Philippine history, democracy, and hope home with you with the 7-Eleven Commemorative Cup. Choose a GULP ® beverage from any 7-Eleven store, and you get your own Commemorative Cup!

With a new leader, new-found optimism, and new dreams, there’s no way else to go but forward together in the coming years. Now, that’s definitely something we Filipinos can all drink to!

The 7-Eleven Commemorative Cup is available in all 7-Eleven stores. Visit www.7eleven.com.ph/ for more details.

Clean-Up Day

Manang Salve, my yard-cleaning lady came by today to clean up. We have so much dried leaves on the yard. I don’t particularly enjoy doing outdoor sweeping chores so she gets to do it.

I also asked her to clean up the bathroom located outside the house since even if no one uses it, it still gets dirty. She also cleaned the sinks in the “dirty kitchen”, removed cobwebs from the windows, and collected the trash.

We haven’t replanted yet, maybe when she comes back. My plants died when the rains came. Some got eaten by the dog especially those fragrant herbs. Grrr…. A caterpillar made home in one of the calamansi plants and almost ate all the baby fruits and the leaves as well. Maybe it became a butterfly already since the leaves are growing back.

And now I rest not because I got tired helping her but because I woke up a little after 4am to cooked packed lunch for the kids.

Last Minute Shopping for School Supplies

Last minute shopping. This is what can be said of the malls and stalls in bargain places (like Divisoria) nowawadays. People are on the hunt for school supplies, uniforms, school shoes and thingamajigs for school opening on Tuesday.

We plan to go look for kitchen appliances but we have to hold it off to avoid the crowds. Who knows what virus or worse, pickpockets are up to during these times. I still want to watch a movie with the kids though, before the school starts, LOL.

Nowadays, even the brother-in-law who works to design furniture does not frequent the malls where he looks for inspiration. I think I should do get the things I need for my grocery list today to avoid Monday’s crowd since Monday is a holiday.

And yeah, now I need to wake up before the rooster crows to cook packed lunch for the children.

Back From a Dinner Invite

We just got back from that dinner invite by hubby’s aunt and boy! It was a fun, fun dinner in terms of the food and lively company. And yes, we will definitely be back a few days from now because they will be celebrating their Patron Saint’s Feast day and I am sure, the fiesta food would be oh so yummy!

Hello, apidexin? Hrhrhr…

I may have to walk off these food that I indulged in, crunchy deep-fried wrapped shrimps, grilled tuna (guilt-free food!) salad and glasses of my favorite ice-cold cola.

I am just letting the food settle down and while I am at it, hubby is calling me to share a Loumar’s Buko Pie Crumble or Buko Tart. That would be in my next post and I hope there will still be left for photo opp. 😀
