Home-Baked Bread

Snacking turned differently when I re-learned how to bake stuff. We have not been buying the usual biscuits and cookies because the children (and hubby and I as well) have been eating home-baked goodies.

I baked every other day since a 9×9 baking pan of brownies or several batches of mini-loaves and muffins are gone before 48 hours.

Last Monday we had these in our lunchbox for our snacks:

Biking

My hubby and the children ride bikes.

I don’t. No, let me rephrase that, I can’t.

The two younger children got a new bike for Christmas. They got one only because we still have a slightly bigger and almost new bike which our oldest daughter rarely use.

Giving sports gifts during Christmas is not new. I am sure there are a lot of children who got new bikes, skateboards, roller blades, different kinds of balls for different kinds of sports that would enable the receivers to further enhance whatever sport they like to concentrate.

For my children, they like biking because its fun. They get to ride her bikes during weekends with a lot of other bikers too.

Red Wooden Christmas Tree

Last week of the Filipino Mom Blog‘s Fab Holiday Finds and the theme is RED and/or GREEN.

One of the gifts I got from my students was this red wooden Christmas tree which I already featured as a part of our Advent Wreath.

This mini tree has “gold” trimmings and red accents on proper places that lights are reflected on the glitters.

In the background is the big Advent Wreath which I got from NBS for less than PhP100.00 because the tag says “less 20% off”.

I am still updating my other blog for another red and green entry.

Here is my post about the Handmade Christmas tree ornaments with red and green colors.

House Work and Children

Children + house work = responsibility

That is what I believe. Having been without a helper for more than six years, we have relied on ourselves to do the house work. I do the cooking and when I am not in the house during Saturdays due to work, my eldest daughter is the one responsible in cooking and washing the dishes.

Cleaning is scheduled and the little ones help in doing so by putting their toys away, at times they sweep the floor or help mop the floor. They put their plates in the sink to be washed late on after they eat. They put their dirty clothes in the laundry basket. They make their beds after waking up. They “help” or hover in the kitchen when I’m cooking, observing what I’m doing and helping stir what’s in the pot while standing on a chair.

Littlest Pet Shop Toy Puppies

The littlest pet shop toys are wonderful toys for children. Their feet have small magnets. They have teeny tiny accessories like bones and hats.

These are not for young children to play wth because of the small parts that can either get lost or swallowed (I hope not).

I got these on sale, by the way 🙂

Silver Baking Pan

Having said that I am going to spend a frugal Christmas, I have one after the other, slowly getting the things I need to see my plan of action into a reality

I got several things to use to be able to afford baking goodies as gifts

Sure, I shelled out some but I know these are for long-term use so I am still able to save, I think

Anyway, I got a silver 9 x 9 baking pan which was not bought on purpose but rather as an alternative The nonstick baking pan I was setting my sights on was not in stock so I settled for the silver baking pan which incidentally, is the FilipinoMomBlog’s Fab Holiday Finds week 3 theme

Here is a photo with the butterscotch bars that I and the kids baked last week, cooling in the silver baking pan 🙂
