Frugal Christmas Gift Ideas

I have several things in my (mental) list of what I want to do for Christmas in terms of having yet another round of frugal Christmas gift ideas.

Of course, the notepads are a priority because the daughters requested I do these for their gifts. I’m slowly filling up my list and got some toys at a recent toy sale.

Should I do baked goodies again but do it differently? I think I should especially since I discovered about cookie bouquets. Of course it is easy to just send cookie bouquets but to actually make these myself would make me feel good albeit super tired. Let me say that I just love the idea of these cookie bouquets!

I’m guessing I’ll be adding cookie cutters in my list of to-buy 😀

Now how to do the frosting…

Christmas Party Raffle

During last year’s Christmas Day lunch with the in-laws, I raffled out some goodies. This year, I’m planning to do this again so I am starting to put together a lot of things to fill up a bag for the raffle:

  • lanyards with different colors
  • baller bracelets of different colors
  • skin care products
  • shirts
  • accessories like bracelets, steel necklace and fancy earrings
  • knick-knacks like fans, folders, green bags
  • caps
  • water bottles
  • children’s bags

I hope no one gets a sad face this year. Sad face = sorry no more gift left.

I Signed Up in Another Groupon. Again.

I’ve recently signed up an account with another one of those groupons or online discount voucher sites.

*rolls eyes and shudders*

I chose to pay with over-the-counter method so that we don’t have to go online and pay with rfid credit cards. Plus hubby was the one paying because I am closely guarding my online spending for something big (read: tuition fee).

It was of extreme importance that I sign up with THIS one because they were offering a small gadget with another one thrown in the bundle. The price was irresistible and so the hubby agreed we’d get the deal because we were going to buy that certain gadget anyway.

No More Jobs

“Unemployment in the U.S. rises”, says an online news headline.

So true to almost a thousand Filipino teachers who are now out of job. I could have been one of them because I was interviewed by the recruitment officer for a teaching position in that certain county.

If I got in I would have paid almost a million pesos. Yes, I’d be swimming in debt even before I set foot in the great big US of A. I know it’s probably like having a lot of payday advance loans except they haven’t received their salary yet but they’re already paying for the fees.

Just like the other teachers who have been duped by a fellow Filipino recruiter, these teachers paid a whole lot just to be able to teach over seas. The authorities should also look into the agency that got them their jobs because it is to the agency that they paid thousands of dollars as “processing fees”.

Challenged

I know gushing about having a PR is sooo like a noob blogger *insert rolls eyes emoticon here*

My food blog recently got PR’ed, if there’s such a word. This happening came as a surprise and inspired me to cook more, never mind if a glowing neon “buyphenphedrine.com” sign is making it’s way to me. LOL.

Right now, the boiled potatoes (with grated cheese and butter) are sitting in the blue silicon baking pan, inside the fridge waiting for 4:30am. I’m gonna bake this for a bit for the kids’ breakfast.

The spring rolls are also waiting for their turn to get fried in the morning.

The cooked rice is in the fridge too, to be cooked as fried rice.

And best of all, the coconut jam warmed with butter and “cooked” with scrambled egg is cooling down. This will be for tomorrow morning’s toast.

Now, on to budget management… 😀

Looking For a New Backpack

We bought the eldest daughter a new backpack because she hasn’t had a new bag since 5th grade. There are three backpacks that she alternately use since that last time we got her a bag.

She doesn’t use the backpack we got her, says it’s too big, way bigger than her, LOL.

Maybe we shouldn’t have bought that backpack and just let her choose the bag she likes because I chanced upon her looking at GoLite Backpacks the other day.

I guess we’d let her choose the bag she likes next time.

Hay gastos na naman.
