Tomica Nissan GT-R

One of the latest finds at the favorite toy store: Tomica Nissan GT-R.

Tomica

Photo is first posted here.

The children know what car models to buy and they don’t settle for those outrageous designs that are not “real cars”. Most often, we give in to them and get these toys for them, not because these are not expensive, but because they know cars well.

Even if I’d rather they hurry up so the husband can look over wholesale shoes at a newly opened store that sell these things, I know it is a lost cause when we are in the section of toy stores with these little treasures.

Bite Block Daily

Dengue cases are on the rise. Protect yourself and your family from this dangerous condition with Bite Block Daily

Read on about Bite Block in this press release:

Keep Mosquitoes at Bay During the Rainy Season

By now, you’ve lived in the tropics long enough to realize that between the shifting seasons and humidity, insects are another force to be reckoned with. It’s easy enough to deal with—just slather on some insect repellent and you can keep mosquitoes at bay throughout the day.

Is it however, safe for children? It’s a question that parents carefully consider, particularly when the rainy season rolls around and the need to prevent bites from mosquitoes and other insects rises.

While most are all too eager to use insect repellents on themselves, most do not realize that doing the same for younger children—who probably would benefit from them the most—can go a long way in preventing allergic reactions from insect bites and insect-borne diseases such as Dengue.

And while using insect repellents seem simple enough, it would be best to follow these brief guidelines to make sure that you and your kids are safe.

  • Remember that not all insect repellents are created equal. For children, it’s best to choose brands that have been tested safe for children as young as 6 months and are mild and hypoallergenic.

  • One of the safest insect repellent to use on your Kids are DEET-free, at the same time should provide atleast 8 hours of protection. Be worry free when your kids are in school, during playtime or sleeping. Opt for a brand that offer these features.

  • In addition to the application of an insect repellent, you can dress children in thin, loose-fitting clothing in muted colors. Encourage them to wear socks and shoes instead of sandals. Be mindful of where you let your kids play as well.

Bite Block Product Line Up

Given the guidelines mentioned, Bite Block easily meets the criteria of protection, safety and efficacy that anyone seeks in an insect repellent. The brand has two available variants – with one specially formulated for kids as young as 6months, Bite Block Kids, and another Bite Block Daily, with its mild formulation and affordability allowing user to apply more frequently.

Remember that when it comes to protecting children, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Be sure to follow these basic guidelines and keep yourself worry-free and your kids safe.

Bite Block is available in 50ml, 100ml, 5mlx5 tradebox and 5ml sachets in leading supermarkets and drugstores nationwide.

Dengue fever or any kind of illnesses associated with these buggers is not something we want to have. Being careful and observing a clean surrounding are big help too. Avoid going to places, if need be, especially if there are spaces where these can breed.

An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

Thinking of Summer

When we were being pounded by torrential rains last week, I was actually thinking “I miss the hot sweltering summer days”. Well, not actually the hot and sweltering part but you know…

summer!

Imagine staying on these chairs rather than looking out the window to see if water is slowly creeping up your home’s steps is definitely better. Why, I’d probably throw in a few interesting magazine articles to read about like the latest among showbiz personalities, pages upon pages of engagement rings, and even the latest information on Curiosity Rover. Or maybe not that last part to read about while lounging near the pool.

Cabin Fever

Being cooped up at home does not mean getting cabin fever because there is so much to do. I know there is a lot of things I have to do but in this cool bed weather, instead of cleaning up, sorting and organizing the things we have that needs to be sorted and organized in the clothes closets, library, dvd cabinet, kids’ room and even the living room, I just want to curl up in bed with a good e-book. And by e-book I mean I got a long list of ebooks to read.

So, how can one battle cabin fever?

  • clean up the mess brought about by the more-than-week long rains
  • sort clothes and toys and give these away to those who need them instead of just having these unused inside cabinets
  • volunteer in relief centers and help in the packing of relief goods
  • bond with the family by cooking for them and just simply spending time together

I am sure people are now eager to go out and breathe some outdoor air. I myself am ready to go as soon as I finish some online tasks.

I just hope and pray that my fellow kababayans who were affected by the massive flooding are in a better situation than earlier last week.
