Fun Movies for Children

We recently got a few DVD movies for the children to watch.

One was Space Buddies which they have watched two or three times already which has dogs as stars in the movie. This is a sign that they love it because of the number of times it has been watched to think it was just Friday night that we got these movies.

The other movie we got was Bedtime Stories starring Adam Sandler a hotel handyman which was also funny and they understood early on that the stories told by the children were magically and coincidentally coming true. I just think they enjoyed the Jumanji (from the same director) better.

Still another movie they enjoyed was “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian“. They have almost forgotten about the first movie “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardobe“and I am sure they will watch that to refresh their memories.

Fancy Birthday Cakes

Birthday celebrations and parties have come a long way. Birthday cakes too, are now more fanciful and detailed they look more like storybooks than cakes.

No kidding.

Take a look at this Winnie the Pooh inspired cake with the Honey Tree and Roo on the side where the photo was taken:

Nice right? It looks like a book that comes alive (well, it is almost the size of a book). It is colorful and looks  three-dimensional.

Do you agree?

Ipanema Gisele Bundchen Seeds Collection

Last night we attended the Bloggers’ Event for Ipanema’s Gisele Bundchen (GB) Seeds Collection.

Photo taken during the dance performance of the Philippine Ballet Theater where the ballerinas wore the GB Seeds Collection while dancing and yes, no straps were broken 😀

The launching of the GB Seeds Collection is being teamed with Haribon Foundation in an effort to create not just an awareness on the preservation of the Philippine rainforests but as one of the steps to be taken to realize the goals in the preservation of these treasured natural resources.

I had the chance to ask Mr Patxi Elizalde who was very accommodating about the materials they used for this collection and he explained that these are made from recycled materials like residues from different things like PVC, industrial and painting residues.

There will also be a Walk the Green Mile Walkathon slated on March 21 and part of the proceeds of these GB Seeds Collection will help in the planting and growing of trees

I Love Food

Why do I love food? I asked my daughter this question and she answered we love food because food makes us alive. True, we should eat to live and not live to eat.

Not that I am saying that the “live to eat” thought is not good because that philosophy would be good too as long as the food being taken is healthy.

Below is a sandwich that I prepared:

A sandwich with lettuce, tomato slices, scrambled egg and a slice of cheese in between whole wheat bread that I made for lunch and brought to work.

I plan to have more of these in the coming days, plus more (raw) vegetables in my lunch box and on the dining table too. No sweat with fruits since we all love to eat fruits.

This kind of sandwich made from home is definitely less expensive when bought from a restaurant or a coffee shop. Good for the heart, I hope it is 🙂

Belated Happy Hearts day to all!

Sending a Message

Arts and crafts are a big thing for me, as a mother and as a teacher. I have written articles about why it is important to teach these to children here and here.

One of the ways to show how creative the children are is by giving away handmade greeting cards during special occasions. Be these manually made or done using the computer, I am sure these will be appreciated well.

One of the ways to send greetings to loved ones during special occasions is by sending online greeting cards. Yes, these are economical and has a fast delivery.

The other day, I saw my six year old daughter Tania make a Valentine greeting card on the desktop and here is what she made:

Simple but it sure brings the message across 🙂

Crafts for Kids

Doing crafts is one interesting way to spend time with children. As a homeschooling mother, the kids and I look forward to these activities where they get to experiment and work with paints, glue, scissors and different art materials.

Why, we even made our own Christmas decor last Christmas. We made paper stockings, personalized gift tags, and photos on the tree.

Below is one craft we made last year:

Disney Princesses Wind Chimes

When using paints, it is important to have the children wear something to protect their clothes, like a big old shirt or an apron.

Cover the work area with paper so that the paint will not flow on the table and make a mess.

Go get those art materials now and spend quality time with your children 🙂
