Roses from Island Rose

I had the chance to visit Island Rose rose farm a few days ago with other bloggers and print media people. Island Rose is a premier rose grower in the Philippines.

Island Rose

Island Rose has state of the art greenhouse facilities that house their fresh and beautiful roses that can be ordered through an efficient and easy e-commerce means though islandrose.net.

The greenhouses are computer controlled where there are mist fans providing mist, roofs that automatically close if there are changes in the weather and weather station that provides data necessary to grow these roses. The ideal temperature would be around 26 degrees and not more than 30 degrees inside the greenhouses.

Every year, Island Rose produces over two million roses.  It ships around five thousand roses in the country daily from their rose farm to your home.

Preparing Island Rose roses

There are twelve varieties of roses available. The three types of red roses are the Grand Rose (thornless, thick-stemmed and has dark red buds),  Red Giant (long straight-stemmed) and Red France (vibrant red petals). Osiana roses are peach-colored. Noseblesse roses have salmon pink petals. Vivaldi roses have very light pink petals. Texas roses have golden yellow buds. Christine roses have light yellow petals. Salsa roses are deep orange in color. Lambada roses have bright orange tones. Tineke roses are white and have thick-stems. Gloria roses have the purest white color.

You can check the website for the bouquet arrangement you want and include other items with the bouquet you wish to send your loved ones.

Pink Rose

The roses are licensed plants and each plant can produce maximum flowers within seven years. The roses are harvested three times a day at morning, noon and afternoon. No, these can’t be planted in your outdoor garden as these would not survive.

Thanks to the Andaya brothers Dustin and Arnold for the tour of Island Rose flower farm :)

Mafia Movies

I think most men love Mafia movies. My husband does and I must say he loves these with a passion especially the scenes with adrenaline rushing car chases among alleys and/or scenic highways.

No question why Mafia Wars is one of the more popular game app in Facebook (which the hubby does not play, btw).

Most Mafia bosses are portrayed as mostly surrounded by a posse of heavily set armed (not visible) men, has cohiba cigars on their hands, have big bullet-proof cars, have beautiful daughters, live in posh homes and have slick hair that seemed to have been combed with pomade. Don’t ask me why I know what a pomade is please :D

I also like movies that are Mafia-themed but sometimes the plot gets predictable that it gets boring because one gets a feeling that “I’ve seen that before”.

If there was one tagline I’d probably remember from a Mafia movie, it would be this from Scarface:

In the spring of 1980 the port at Mariel Harbor was opened, and thousands set sail for the United States. They came in search of the American Dream. One of them found it on the sun washed avenues of Miami… wealth, power and passion beyond his wildest dreams. He was Tony Montana but the world will remember him by another name… Scarface

Jollibee in Glee

It is known among my close circle of friends that I watch Glee every Wednesday morning through webtv.

It so happened that I woke up rather late today and missed this portion where Tina and Artie are in a mall and Artie showed Tina that he can walk!

In the mall, when Artie and the people are dancing, one can see the iconic Jollibee signage in the background. It may not be as known internationally as it’s rival brands but it is a grand way to be seen (though accidentally) on TV!

How’s that for free promotion? Jollibee in Glee. Jollibee was even a trending topic in Twitter :)

Here is the link to the video.

Plants Versus Zombies Almanac

Addiction is a strong word. If this is going to be used to describe my preference for digital game, then Plants Versus Zombies would be my choice. For now.

plantsVzombiesalmanac

We enjoy playing the games here over and over again. We try to develop various plant combination to prevent these zombies from entering our house.

I was a bit tempted to use cheat codes but nah, that would lessen the fun and the challenge. Even without these, we still managed to complete the lineup of plants and zombies after a few days.

I even forgot a friend’s request about helping her find the best fat burners for her beach trip a few weeks from now because I am always busy fighting zombies on my lawn :D

Shopping for Shirts

The husband is a bit meticulous when it comes to buying men’s polo shirts.

He has a certain preference for a certain type of cloth. He prefers the hem to be straight especially since he is not fond of tucking in the shirt inside his pants. He even has a parameter for how long the shirt should be. He is not brand-conscious too, unlike other men.

I don’t believe only women have a hard time looking for what they like when shopping for clothes. Men have strong preferences too :)
