The theme for this Saturday is THANKFUL
I came across this quotation about being thankful a few days ago when I was thinking about the post I will make for the theme: “It isn’t what you have in your pocket that makes you thankful, but what you have in your heart”
And I say “yes, I agree”
I am thankful about so many things which I wrote about in this other PH entry
I am thankful for my parents who may not have much in their pockets (like me, lol!) but have big hearts with overflowing love π
We do not have a mansion with spacious rooms and high-ceilings but we felt like royalty because in the eyes of my parents, my brother and I are both the little prince and little princess π
The home which is the witness of many wonderful moments is in bad shape and needs major repairs but we are hopeful that everything will fall into place π
Thank you God for giving me a wonderful family π

Valentine’s Day has come and gone and yes, people have celebrated this day differently.
For us, we went to my eldest daughter’s school to watch the cheering competition I am sure a lot of families and couples of course celebrated this day in different ways.
I am sure a lot of families went out of town to celebrate which was our idea at first but the kids wanted to just stay at home π
To the beach? To a nature park? Reservations at Westgate? The possibilities are endless!
No matter how this day was spent, what is important is to feel loved and to give love not only on this day but the whole year through π
Which reminds me, I have asked and written about Favorite Romantic Movies and Favorite Love Songs π

Bucao River is one of the rivers in my home province.
My other entry gives emphasis on the side of this bridge that brings me closer to our family home, where my parents and brother live.
Bucao River flows from Mount Pinatubo, a volcano that erupted in the early 1990s after being dormant for almost 500 years. Its ash fall reach other South East Asian countries.
Anyway…
When we went home last Sunday to celebrate my father’s birthday, I asked my husband to stop so that I could take photos of the river and of the bridge on the other side.
The bridge in the foreground is newer because the bridge before that was destroyed by lahar flow.

One of the special days being marked in calendars is Valentine’s Day.
To some people, this is just an ordinary day except others are more sweet, more patient and more tolerant. A few weeks before this day, people are bombarded with all things red as a reminder to get gifts for their loved ones. Do you still give gifts on Valentine’s Day?
Greeting cards and flowers from those who have limited budgets. Weekend getaway, TW Steel Watches, a romantic dinner, jewelry or the latest tech gadget from those with deep pockets.
Whatever gifts will be given, and however this day is going to be celebrated, it is still nice to hear people say that “If Valentine’s Day is celebrated everyday, then the world would be a better place to be in.”
I agree. Its not the gifts nor the celebration but by being more loving, more caring and kinder to other people, that is the true essence of this special day.

Every Saturday, participants post photos based on a theme. The theme for this Saturday, the first Saturday for 2009 is HOPE.
Martin Luther King, Jr.: If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all. And so today I still have a dream.
Let us all light up our hopes so we see our dreams in sight and work on these to come true.
Yes, hope should go hand in hand with prayers and hard work.
