Coffee Talk

Almost everyone I know loves coffee.

Why, even my 7 year old son would declare that “coffee is his favorite smell”. Really.

I love coffee too though I can survive the day without drinking a cup. My hubby makes a wonderful cup which I love to drink.

We rarely use coffee makers since we use instant coffee drink. In fact our coffee maker has been unused since we got it five or so years ago.

Coffee shops have grown exponentially for the past year.

These are sprouting like mushrooms, they are almost everywhere! Proof that this country loves to drink this beverage or just want to hang out with friends holding on and drinking a cup of coffee for two hours. Ugh.

UPDATE (Feb07,2013)

Since this blog post, we started on drinking brewed coffee and has not gone back to drinking instant coffee.

Vinegar for Cleaning

I have read about the wonders of vinegar as a cleaning agent. In fact, a good friend even blogged about it in our group blog.

Of course, this being an environmental friendly cleaning agent, I had to give it a try.

A few weeks ago, I tried it for the first time. I used the vinegar in cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen. What I did was spray on the tiles and leave the vinegar for a while. Then I brushed using a tile grout brush. It worked! Even the bathroom faucets got shiny after the cleaning was done.

I smelled like vinegar after the cleaning was done but I didn’t mind at all because I can wash up and have the smell removed.

What made me appreciate using vinegar were the benefits: environment friendly, affordable and not chemical-based.

Red Wooden Christmas Tree

Last week of the Filipino Mom Blog‘s Fab Holiday Finds and the theme is RED and/or GREEN.

One of the gifts I got from my students was this red wooden Christmas tree which I already featured as a part of our Advent Wreath.

This mini tree has “gold” trimmings and red accents on proper places that lights are reflected on the glitters.

In the background is the big Advent Wreath which I got from NBS for less than PhP100.00 because the tag says “less 20% off”.

I am still updating my other blog for another red and green entry.

Here is my post about the Handmade Christmas tree ornaments with red and green colors.

Christmas Vacation

Vacation mode has finally set in two weeks ago.

I have been a little disoriented about the date and the days! Maybe its the workaholic in me that is starting to worm its way out of the “system” I am starting to get comfortable with, a slower pace without having to hurry to avoid the unavoidable traffic jam.

Maybe I have had too much of malling and looking for a good sale which I can get a lot of good deals from.

I have not dealt with my students for weeks but I have two deal with my three sometimes bickering, sometimes fun to be with children.

For now, I am enjoying my vacation and I hope I would be able to do the chores I have to do before I have to go back to the real world: work and traffic.

Good thing its only twice a week.

Shopping

Almost everyone loves to go shopping, whether to find good buys and bargains, to just window shop or to really buy what they want need for whatever reason. Perhaps husbands are the ones who don’t enjoy shopping especially when they just tag along with their wives holding heavy bags.

So what part of the mall or department store do you like to explore?

House Work and Children

Children + house work = responsibility

That is what I believe. Having been without a helper for more than six years, we have relied on ourselves to do the house work. I do the cooking and when I am not in the house during Saturdays due to work, my eldest daughter is the one responsible in cooking and washing the dishes.

Cleaning is scheduled and the little ones help in doing so by putting their toys away, at times they sweep the floor or help mop the floor. They put their plates in the sink to be washed late on after they eat. They put their dirty clothes in the laundry basket. They make their beds after waking up. They “help” or hover in the kitchen when I’m cooking, observing what I’m doing and helping stir what’s in the pot while standing on a chair.
