Kipling, a Belgian bag brand partners with World Vision for “A Brighter Christmas For a Brighter Tomorrow“.

World Vision, a Christian development and advocacy organization that helps children will be benefiting from this partnership in order to have more funds for the education of the children under their care.

The partnership aims to spread the fun and happiness that every Kipling bag has been instilled with.

When was the last time you made someone else smile? That is the question Havaianas asks you as it launches the Havaianas Design a Smile 2, a flip-flops design contest for the benefit of Operation Smile Philippines.

Havaianas Design a Smile was first launched in 2010.

Havaianas Design a Smile showcases children’s artistic abilities by designing Havaianas flipflops which will be made into an actual Havaianas pair. Percentage of the sales from these designs will benefit Operation Smile Philippines. Operation Smile Philippines is a non-profit organization that give surgeries to children with cleft palates and cleft lips.

The first Havaianas Design a Smile competition had over 2,000 entries and raised more than Php100,000 pesos from donations.

“Havaianas believes that summer is a state of mind and can be lived every day of the year whenever you adopt a happy and carefree attitude,“ shares Anne Gonzalez, Managing Director of Havaianas Philippines. “And nowhere else is that more evident than in children. With Havaianas Design a Smile, we hope to generate funds and awareness to support Operation Smile in our shared mission to spread smiles all over the world.”

Starting this November till  to January, Havaianas Design a Smile 2 is back, with the theme “Paying it Forward: Kids Helping Kids.”

On November 24th, artistically inclined kids can join Havaianas Design a Smile by submitting their designs illustrating their answer to the question “What will you do to make other people smile?” at partner events nationwide:

• Bonifacio Global City Passion Fest at Bonifacio High Street from November 23 to 25
• Mommy Mundo Bazaar at the Rockwell Tent from November 24 to 25.

Winners will receive exciting prizes from the following:

• Havaianas, 
• Bobble, 
• Pininho, 
• Hobbes and Landes, 
• McDonald’s, 
•  Sony.

The grand prize winner will also have his or her design produced as part of the Havaianas 2014 Collection as the Havaianas Smile pair, with a percentage of the sales from which will help fund the operations of Operation Smile.

Last week, we went to the National Geographic Channel (NGC) Doggy Day Camp.

To say the children were happy is a bit of an understatement. They had fun gushing, petting (some that they know won’t bite) and taking photos of cute, big, hairy, little, and not so hairy dogs.

The National Geographic Channel’s Doggy Day Camp had these furry friends enjoy different activities such as grooming services and massages from Furrr-pect Grooming, pedigree treats in a kibble buffet set-up by Treats Cafe and playing with other dogs at the Wilderness Pupplay.

Their humans meanwhile learned new tricks and tips from Cesar Millan, a dog behavior expert during the screening of the new season of Dog Whisperer. Dog Whisperer airs every 10 pm Wednesday at the NGC.

Born to be Wild host Ferdz Recio talked about proper nutrition while Pawsitive Education resident vet Jon Uy discussed behavioral issues of dogs. May Angela Feliz of Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) discussed about the responsibility of pet ownership. GMA7’s Aso ni San Roque’s dog named Princess was present, along with the cast of the show.

The Doggy Day Camp also had a parade and a mini agility race where Urban Sports K9. Ten of the best submitted heroic dog feats were also featured in an exhibit.

Bradley:

Colorful shorts bring instant liveliness to any ensemble. Capture that energy by pairing them with clothes in complementary—not matching!—colors. Make the outfit pop with sneakers that create contrast with the rest of the hues being worn. A good rule of thumb is to mix up warm colors, like red and orange, with cool colors like green and blue. A contrasting cardigan adds a touch of class, making little boys look dapper, yet casual.

Boys Got Style:

While loud colors can look debonair on a young boy by themselves, bringing in some contrast through additional layers creates depth and texture to the entire outfit. A sporty black jacket makes yellow shirts and red jeans pop, while taupe helps a red collared shirt blend in with dark blue jeans by cooling the vivid color down. The end result is a fashionable look that’s versatile enough for both night and day.

Dude:

Juniors and pre-teens are certified rockstars when dressed in Dude’s duds. Make heavily-textured shirts look sleek and sophisticated with blazers in neutral shades. If you want to keep the look casual, roll up the blazer’s sleeves along with the shirts to add a colorful cuff at the end. With a pair of dark-wash jeans and a stylish pair of sneaks to complete the ensemble, juniors are definite head-turners!

Modern Prince:

Dressed up doesn’t always have to mean toned down for kids. Brighten up the standard black suit with a colorful bowtie in complementary shades, like periwinkle. For a daytime affair, have some fun with a white suit by adding livelier colors like turquoise and salmon. A nice pair of boat shoes loosens things up without straying into informal territory. Crown the outfit with a stylish hairdo, and your dashing little gentleman will be the talk of the town.
