Can We Say No to Migraine?
Friends always complain of migraine. It seems that some are even not functioning fully whenever they don’t take their meds, self-prescribed or not, and are always on the lookout for migraine headache treatment. There are even times when they say they woke up with a migraine.
Me? I don’t know if I have migraine or not but I do get headaches too, especially when I am thinking of some problems or when I have spent several hours in front of the screen or when I am hungry. There are sometimes combination that give me a headache but not enough to render me incapacitated.
So, what are a few ways to avoid migraine?
- Identify your migraine triggers. A journal about what happened before the migraine attack would help identify the triggers.
- Get regular sleep and if possible, sleep and wake up at the same time.
- Eat regularly, and avoid food that are likely to trigger a migraine.
- Try to manage stress.
- Manage your time well so that you won’t have to deal much with schedules and deadlines.
- Avoid excessive caffeine.
- Rest if you feel a headache coming.
- Avoid smoking and if possible avoid second-hand smoke
As the saying goes, for the moneyed ones, they get migraine. For those without much financial capabilities, headache means one has not had lunch or dinner yet (in short, *gutom lang yan, LOL). For migraine sufferers,
*gutom = hunger
