Collette Buko Pie

As I looked at the food photos in my files, I decided to choose layered ice cream cake photos from Five Cows Restaurant, venue of the FilipinoMomBlog.com‘s first meet-up/dinner.

I changed my mind though because ice cream cake, though very much appreciated, is not really a Filipino food.

So the quest began until I remembered that I have photos of buko pie from Collette’s which we bought when we went swimming a few weeks ago.

Now I present a slice of buko pie, my entry for Lasang Pinoy Sunday’s Layer Eat Up:

There, layers of crust, custard and young coconut slices.

This particular buko pie did not seem to live up to my expectations. There were fewer young coconut slices and more of that sweet custard filling. Hmmm… I wonder why. Cost-cutting perhaps?

    Some say that buco pie in a red box (I forgot the name) was much more delicious compared to Collete’s, pero biased ako eh… fave ko pa rin si Collete’s. =)

    the thing about buko pies is that they tend to taste “carboard-y” after awhile because of the packaging. masarap daw ang “D Original” near UPLB. Maybe we should try that soon 🙂

    I agree – Collette’s Buko Pie is not as good as it used to be… 🙁 We now prefer the buko crumble tartlets made by the nuns (I forget which particular order they belong to) in Tagaytay.

    It is a great layered entry though… 🙂

    At least, this one is easy to get, I mean there is even a store near our area where we can get this without traveling a bit 🙂
