What Did You Get?

What did you get for Christmas? Have you finally mastered the art of gifting after all these years?

New clothes? Toys for your children? A new bag? Tech toys? Kitchen gadgets?  Dinner ware? Personalized pub mugs? Baked goodies? New shoes?

Or perhaps a new lease in life like what some of our brothers and sisters down south got.

I don’t know if it is considered as new lease in life if they survived but their family members did not. Yes, knowing as I am quite obsessed with knowing details when things like these happened, I read articles, watched videos, discussed when someone’s willing to listen and thought about them. I prayed for them too.

So now I ask again, “What did you get for Christmas?”

The answer depends on what values you treasure most: family, love, friendship, peace of mind, and being a channel to be able to help others are just a few things that may give satisfaction not just for Christmas but for the rest of the year.

Tracking Devices

We’ve bought a small gadget from an on-line discount vendor a few weeks ago. They emailed last week that delivery will be delayed. Ugh. Times like this I wish I can personally track the delivery progress, like they do with Santa during Christmas, 😀

The hubby’s work in relation to telcos enabled him to experience different kinds of mobile phones when mobile phone usage was in its infancy in the country during the late 90s. I particularly liked the Benefon units because of its many useful functions like the gps locator, safety of user in case of emergencies where he/she needs to be found and truck fleet tracking.

The mobile phones these days can do just that but those Benefon units were well ahead of its time.

A Child’s Wish

Last Friday, I wished for a new guitar. Not for me but for the youngest child who is bent on learning how to play the guitar. She has her eye on a certain brand. I’m sure when the daughter is adept enough to play she would be asking for gretsch guitars.

When we were still homeschooling, she learned to play a recorder all by herself but somehow this skill was forgotten due to the rigors of regular schooling. I hope she can re-learn when they have flute lessons in 4th grade.

Music is the language of the soul, so they say. My children grew up hearing music and learning songs that children their age probably don’t know. Here is one of my youngest daughter’s favorite song: That’s All I Want From You

TOMS Give Fair at TriNoma

TOMS Will be having a Give Fair at TriNoma on December 4, 2011:

TOMS Give Fair TriNoma December 4, 2011

TOMS One for One: for every TOMS pair of shoes you buy, you give a gift of a new pair of shoes to a child who needs them. This is probably one of the best gift ideas for Christmas.

TOMS

Instead of giving our children gifts that they won’t use for long, why not give them a pair of TOMS shoes? This does not just show that we are thinking of them but of other children who will benefit from having a new pair of shoes.
