Keep Christmas With You All Through the Year

Christmas is an excuse to indulge excessively, if you ask me. The spirit of giving to other and to the self is interpreted differently.

Sure, its nice to give (and to receive) but at times people equate this with price tags.

Christmas should be a day of thanksgiving, of introspection of what we can do in our small ways to “heal” the world.

I wrote this comment in Lynn’s blog post when she answered my Weekly Question about Christmas traditions.

I know I am a bit overboard in my expectations of how Christmas should be spent. Maybe I was a bit annoyed when neighbors had their music blasting pop songs before the strike of twelve during Christmas Eve. For once, can’t people enjoy songs that lift the spirits, songs that sing about hope and love and about the reason why we are celebrating this special day?

Why Do You Call on God?

Why do you call on God? Why do you pray?

Do you call on God when you want to have a favor granted?

Do you talk to God when you want to ask for guidance before any decision is made?

Do you talk to God only when you are besieged with problems?

Do you talk to God to offer thanksgiving because He has been great to you and has made your life wonderful?

Do you talk to God just because? Whenever you feel like it, whenever you feel His power speaking to you, His greatness making you gush with awe and admiration, you talk to God.
