Grow Tall, Little Man

There was this classic television commercial about a little boy who was playing basketball with a pro player and I just had to look for it otherwise I will toss and turn and can’t sleep just thinking about it. I found a video of course.

Of course it seems unbelievably possible that the little boy beat the big guy. While I was watching the video which someone uploaded in YouTube, I was laughing and thinking, it could have been human growth hormone that the tvc was promoting and not evaporated milk, LOL.

Watch the video here:

Reunions Can Be Fun Too

Family reunions are happy events as loved ones gather to enjoy each others’ company in once-in-a-while moments.

If there is one thing that makes love ones feel awkward with would be to think of topics that will sustain the conversation and keep the communication a two-way street.

It probably feels weird being face-to-face with a cousin you haven’t seen in years and where the only memories y0u got between the two of you is childhood spent together playing games during weekends.

Of course you can’t possibly bore your relatives about the nitty gritty details of your work unless they are interested nor should you explain in detailed version how you bought your new condo unit or how you got the best auto insurance quote or maybe even about your stock market portfolio.

What should you talk about then?

  • Update each other about how you are doing but be general with the details unless they ask you.
  • Introduce your children (if you have some) but do not spend too much time enumerating their best features.
  • Try to find a topic that will interest them.
  • Play fun games.
  • As much as possible, avoid gossiping about those who did not make it to the reunion.

Last of all, enjoy the moment of togetherness 🙂

Practical Gift-Giving

There have been a lot of gifts given and received that are great and practical like things that can be used for daily activities (like food containers and kitchen gadgets, wholesale insurance, gift certificates) such as there are those that are not practical.

I would not want to enumerate what the not-practical gifts are but you probably know what these are.

There is really no need to give lavish gifts like some people do. This year like last year, we gave small baskets of goodies with fruits and home-baked muffins. We even gave away candies to the children who come a-knocking on the gates for some Christmas tokens.

Gifts for the kids were wishes came true: they were asked what they needed and these were given to them. Yes, they knew what they were getting for Christmas 🙂 Corny but then again, at least they like what they get, right?

Moderation During the Christmas Season

Halloween was just a few weeks ago and with the Christmas season in full swing, sweets abound. By sweets I mean cake, pastries, candy canes, candies and sweet memories. Ok, scrap the last part because I am really talking about those with sweet tooth and unlimited stomach space.

I am sure a lot of health-related issues after the Christmas season would center on two or three or even four concerns:

  • high blood pressure due to excessive consumption of food high in cholesterol and animal fats,
  • high blood-sugar level due to consumption of food that are not even supposed to be within two feet of the sufferer,
  • cavities especially with children who are in dire need of a visit to Plano dentist clinics
  • stomach-related problems like dyspepsia, indigestion and just plain eating a little bit too much.

The key to not getting sick in to do things in moderation and that includes eating, drinking, shopping, having fun, and partying.

Sure, one can always say it is the time to be happy and enjoy the company of  family and friends but then again, knowing one’s limits is the best way to go so spend your holidays wisely 🙂
