House Work and Children
Children + house work = responsibility
That is what I believe. Having been without a helper for more than six years, we have relied on ourselves to do the house work. I do the cooking and when I am not in the house during Saturdays due to work, my eldest daughter is the one responsible in cooking and washing the dishes.
Cleaning is scheduled and the little ones help in doing so by putting their toys away, at times they sweep the floor or help mop the floor. They put their plates in the sink to be washed late on after they eat. They put their dirty clothes in the laundry basket. They make their beds after waking up. They “help” or hover in the kitchen when I’m cooking, observing what I’m doing and helping stir what’s in the pot while standing on a chair.
Good thing the house floor is made up of tiles which can be cleaned easily. Personally I prefer wood flooring because this looks nicer but waxing and polishing would be take some time.
No, my hubby and I don’t think having them do these things will make them feel pressured to do work. We reason that all these would be for their own good.
