Mang Inasal

A trio of dips from Mang Inasal: vinegar, chicken oil and soy sauce.

Mang Inasal Trio

Mang Inasal stores are just about anywhere. In the area where we live, there is one nearby but another one is being constructed.

Unlimited rice. For the uninitiated, rice is staple food in the Philippines and is present in almost every meal.(Yes, figure conscious people should have their weight loss pills ready 😀 )

We like eating here because the food being served are “homely” and simple.

Out of Context

Have you ever replied to a blog post written or maybe a tweet, and yes, a Facebook status that is totally out of context? By that I mean giving advice or maybe butting in when you don’t exactly know what the topic is really all about.

If you already did, then you probably felt like you wanted the earth to open up and swallow you whole 😀

Imagine butting in “Peggy needs to read fat burner reviews” when a friend’s status was about Peggy having a hard time walking because of her weight problems only to find out that Peggy is in fact, the friend’s pet hog. Ugh! Totally embarrassing.

Has this happened to you? Did you apologize or just tried to forget about it?

I Am Not Ready for Summer

I heard giggling girls at the mall today talking about crash diets that work.

Just exactly what I need to remind me that summer is HERE and I haven’t done a thing to at least minimize, ok then burn, these unsightly mid-body bulges. Ugh.

Eat plenty of raw leafy vegetables? Check.

Use of olive oil in cooking? Check.

More healthy eating? Check.

More fruits in the diet? Check.

Staying on schedule re morning rounds? Check. For not doing these religiously in reality but mental running definitely a yes. Booo!!!

No soda or sugared drinks? Check for yes 🙁

Definitely not ready for summer yet.

Oh well, I may not be able to wear clothes that are the current fad, my only wish is that I be healthy and free from any illnesses.

Bitter, hahaha.

Come to think of it, without no one to mind the house, we can’t even go on a vacation, not even spend oversight at my parents’ home. It has been years ago since we had a real vacation away from home.

Staycation is not really a case to be sad about, we love to stay at home and chill but being in an entirely different place and exploring new surroundings can do a lot for bored children.

Fish Fillet and Mushrooms in Oriental Sauce

We had this for dinner the other night: Fish Fillet and Mushrooms in Oriental Sauce which I saw Chef Golda cook during the February 27, 2010 Light Meal Recipes with Dona Elena Cuisinera Club.

The kids loved it, and the husband did too. They were raving about how good the food smelled, “like those served in Chinese restaurants”. I am happy of course that they were able to appreciate once again what I prepared for them.

Here was what I cooked using cream dory fillet from SM Hypermarket Centris.

Below is the recipe: Continue Reading »
