Children love to play electronic games. Gone are days when they enjoy playing outdoor games outside their homes, interacting with other children with a few petty fights in between. I guess this is one of the reasons why a group is advocating bringing back the backyard games that children used to enjoy. I must say that i was once one of those who enjoyed playing backyard games.
Now, they just play tennis, golf and “war games” within the comforts of their own home. How? Through PS3 players, hand held electronic game gadgets and even mobile phones.
Personally, I do not approve of always playing these games because I wish for children to be able to experience real interaction. Be able to experience how to run faster than their playmates, how to outsmart others in a physical, rather than an electronic game, be creative in improvising games and learn different values through these games.

Last night’s dinner with mommy blogger friends had neighbors and neighborhood as one of the many topics being discussed. I of course, shared the horror show called “our neighbors” that we always experience.
One time, one of the kids said maybe we need to move if these things make us upset. If only it is as easy as it sounds, be it that there are lots of real estate people willing to pitch a sale, we would have moved already, even if it means going as far as talking to a Wilmington NC real estate office.
Hmmm, why not? This would definitely be a welcome move, to say the least. Maybe, I need to do this before we can afford that move, LOL!
“Mabuhay!” means “Live long and prosper” which is what Filipinos greet their visitors. To you, I present the country’s flag.
The Philippine flag underwent several transformations through the years. A brief history of the present flag can be found here.
The blue stands for peace, truth and justice. The red for patriotism, valor and courage. The white for purity and equality.
The three stars symbolize the three big island groups namely Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
The sun with eight rays represents the first eight provinces who fought in the revolution against Spain which has ruled the country for more than 300 years.
The country went through many challenges and at present, we still are undergoing a lot of political turmoil from leaders who do not represent the symbolism of the flag and it seems that what our forefathers have fought and died for is still not clear amongst self-serving people.
By the way, fun hand-made Oceania flags are in an entry here.
Archibald “Archy” McNally is a flamboyant, funny and extra-ordinaire sleuth character created by Lawrence Sanders for McNally series of books.
What have I learned about Archy?
In the series, food preparation and it’s taste description are given a lot of thought that I feel like the food I’m used to eating will not pass Archy’s sophisticated palate. He is a member of the Pelican Club.
He has been going out with Consuela for the longest time (at least in the book).
He goes for a swim across his home, which is actually a room in his parents’ big home. His mom loves begonias. His father is a revered lawyer who runs McNally and Son. They have cocktails before dinner. He has a sister in another state.
He wears outrageous clothes that will sure catch the attention of other people.
He drives a Miata.
He smokes English Ovals.
